October

Hi ladies
I hope you are all enjoying your good reads. I would love to hear what you are reading. I have been torn this month between the "Jane Austin memoirs" and last month's book "motherhood and me." I'm afraid I havn't gotten very far with either of them. We will try to reschedule our Girl's night in November. This month's devotional is from Hillary Weeks. I really liked her article. It is on prayer. If you have a few minutes it is worth reading.

Girls Night Out

I know I said we would have a girls night in September but I just couldn't work it in. How does Friday October 3rd, 7pm sound? We can meet at my house. Everyone bring the books you have been reading (even if they are not part of the book club). I'll provide some light refreshments. Hope you all can attend.

September

Hi Ladies!
I can hardly believe that September is half over! Where did it go? What is everyone reading this month? It seems like just about everyone I have talked to has managed to slip in the latest book in the Twilight series. I have not read the series yet. I'm afraid to start because I know I will have to read the whole series. I have however been reading the Cost of Winning by Dean Hughes. It was sent to me by Deseret as a little Freebie for starting the book club. I wasn't all that excited about reading it. I secretly wished that they had sent the Jane Austin book instead. I am on the last chapter of Mr. Hughes book and I can't wait to read it again. I feel like I can only read one chapter at a time because I need to ponder all the thoughts that arise while reading each chapter. Each page I read, I think to myself "Oh, I have to remember that..." Hence the reason that I am so eager to read it again... my memory is short! What are you reading?

August

Hard to believe August is almost gone and school is back in full swing. Do any of the rest of you feel like your head is spinning? My reading has definately slowed down. I was able to finish the Great and Terrible series earlier this month. All I can say is that I can't wait for the sixth one to come out. I have also been on a food storage kick since reading about the destruction of the world. My current read is the Cost of Winning. I wasn't really that excited about reading it. I only started the book because Deseret sent it for free. I have been pleasantly surprised. I love the authors down to earth tone. This is a guy I would love to listen to in sacrament meeting! I would love to hear what the rest of you are reading.

Books Available

Deseret sent me two free books this month; MEE Speaks and The Simeon Solution. I won't be able to read them for at least another month. I am starting books 4 and 5 of the Great and Terrible series by Chris Stewart. If any of you are interested in reading MEE Speaks or The Simeon Soulution just let me know.

July

Hello ladies!
I hope you are all enjoying the summer and finding a few moments for yourself to read. I know that sometimes the phrase "lazy days of summer" seems to be as idealistic as the Leave it to Beaver show. No sane woman ever has or will vacumm in high heels and pearls. Nor does there ever seem to be any "lazy days" during the summer. Somehow every day gets scheduled. I have been able to steal a few moments in the evening to read "The Holy Secret" I have just finished the book. I had a hard time finishing this book. It was very difficult to get through the first half of the book because it reminded me of the many areas in my life that I am "falling short" However, do not despair the second half of the book leaves room for hope. I feel uplifted from reading the book and ready to rededicate myself to gaining a greater testimony of the sacred topics mentioned in the book such as the sabbath, scriptures and temples.
